Rubber Floor Matting

As a versatile floor covering that performs where you need it to, rubber mats are hard to beat. Not only do they do a great job of protecting the floor, they also protect people from slipping and falling when a floor is wet and slick. Not only that, but a Rubber Floor Mats like a welcome mat will also protect other parts of your floor indirectly, as when people clean the dirt off their feet on a rubber door mat before entering the house. Any dirt and mud that is collected is then easily washed off thanks to the properties of rubber, which don't easily stick to natural materials. And you can count on your rubber mat to perform, as a mat made from quality rubber can be counted on to do its job for years and years because of the durability of rubber. Good places to use rubber in and around the home are for the front and back entrances, in the shower or bathtub, in the home gym or workout room, and in the car. We've already discussed the reasons why rubber is the material of choice for door mats, but they are equally important in other areas of the home. In your workout room, for example, you will want to protect your floor from damage by heavy exercise equipment and weights. A dumbbell that slips out of a sweaty palm can mean disaster for a hardwood floor, but the floor stands a good chance of escaping unharmed if you have had the foresight to lay a quality rubber mat over it.

At the same time, you're helping to insure against slipping on a sweaty floor. Rubber gym mats are usually interlocking rubber mats that are easy to install. Make sure you get quality recycled rubber or virgin rubber that's vulcanized, otherwise you'll probably have to deal with nauseating fumes from cheaper rubber held together by toxic glues. Quality rubber will also last longer. This also applies to yoga mats, and it is probably more important to get good rubber in this case as you have direct contact with a yoga mat when doing yoga. Floor Mats can be used to prevent damage to tracks that can occur from football cleats, turf care vehicles and other types of equipment that are required to roll over the track to get to the interior field area. Protection of the track is often an afterthought or not a thought at all until the damage occurs and costly repairs are required. The methods of protection employed may include putting some plywood over the track, carpet remnants or some other product not designed to protect the substrate underneath.

Plywood is heavy, tends to warp over time and is not very attractive. Coaches or Athletic Directors will need to "remember" to put the plywood down, remove it and find someone to carry out this constant task. Plywood that warps presents a tripping hazard which can cause injury. Finally, if your school has invested major dollars in a track, stadium, painting the field and in decorations for the big game, warped plywood tends to detract from the entire experience.
